During the spring I decided to try composting. I never knew just how easy it would be and hope to continue this beneficial process. Not only did it make nutritional dirt for my raised garden boxes, but seeds that were added from foods also germinated and gave us delicious foods such as; bell peppers and spaghetti squash.
The bell peppers are still growing and producing, so I have decided to transplant them from the outdoor garden box to a flower pot and bringing indoors. If left outside the cold winter weather will get it and if I bring it in, it will have a 50/50 chance of surviving.
The Basil was from last years seeds that volunteered this year. I also brought both Basil plants inside, they should grow just fine indoors. I’ll keep you posted on how they do. Bringing in my basil will produce a light rich peppery aroma as well as filtering the air throughout the winter months and provide an herb for many of our favorite dishes.
